How we estimate mini split costs

Every price on this site is a model estimate, not a quote and not a scraped invoice. We publish the model in full so you can judge it and adjust for your own situation.

1. National installed-price bands

We start from widely-published typical U.S. installed-price ranges for ductless mini splits, by system configuration. "Installed" means equipment plus standard professional labor for a typical job.

2. Regional labor-cost tier

Installation labor and permit costs vary a lot by metro. We place each city in a labor-cost tier and apply a multiplier to the national band:

City price = national band x the city's tier multiplier, rounded to the nearest $50.

3. What the model does not know about your home

The estimate is a starting point for budgeting. Your real quote will move with:

Line-set length and how far the outdoor unit sits from the indoor heads.
Electrical upgrades (a new dedicated circuit or panel work).
Wall type, mounting height, and access difficulty.
Brand and efficiency (SEER2). Premium and cold-climate units cost more.
Rebates and tax credits, which lower your net cost.

4. Honest limits

These are estimates. We do not guarantee any price. We do not sell installation and we do not take a cut of any job. Always get at least two local quotes before you commit. If you find our model consistently off for a market, tell us and we will review the tier.
